Hiring a Squarespace designer you trust is a full time job. You reach out to your personal network, dig through the endless list of profiles on the Squarespace Specialist directory, jump through a million hoops on Upwork, and if things really get tough… you roll the dice hiring on Craigslist.
In 2012, we were in your shoes. We founded a business, we were on a tight budget, and we needed a website built with all the works. We knew nothing about hiring web designers, or building websites. We were intimidated and cautious. We had no idea where to look, despite knowing there were thousands of designers out there. We had no idea who to trust.
Getting the website we needed online within budget was so hard that we ended up just learning to build it on our own. It took months. We spent so much time on the website and so little time on the business that we ended up shutting the business down and starting a web agency instead!
After building about 100 Squarespace websites, we learned a few things about the industry and have gotten to know just about every Squarespace designer out there in the process. We created this list for two reasons: to help you hire the right Squarespace designer for your project, and for Squarespace designers to meet the clients they're best suited to serve.
We calculate rank based on a handful of variables. The major two are 1) the amount of times the designer has built a furniture website on Squarespace, combined with the complexity of each of those websites, then 2) what % of their clients (overall) are satisfied with their work. Other minor variables are when the designer finished the website projects, how long the designer has been in business, and how many website's in similar industries they've built as well.
